Iconresearch.net

I have founded this website as a part of my doctoral studies at Aalto University. It serves as a platform for surveys that will be used to collect data related to the research questions. I will also publish all the results of the surveys through this site. You can find a brief summary of my research plan here.

Don't be surprised if the page looks like it's under construction, because it is. My policy with this project is, to publish early and often and build the site and its content as I go.

Icons at the interface: their usefulness by Yvonne Rogers (1989) is one of the earliest studies on the taxonomy of interface icons. Through her research, Rogers hopes to discover primitive syntax and semantics for icons, which could be used as a basis for designing a set of icons for a given application. This is a summary of some of the main points of the paper.
